This is fantastic work on deciphering the scattering effects of light. The problems they target include medical, engineering, but I know that light transport problems from the real world are extremely difficult to emulate in computer graphics. Such data would actually aid in more realistic simulation of complex environments. The limitations of electronic circuits do cause accuracy loss and calibration methods must be very pedantic. I wonder if they reduce the air pressure, approaching that of a vacuum, will the accuracy of scatter  improve by a significant amount?
